The Root of Knowledge

When he rose from his seat at the temporary conference table, it was mid-conversation, the issue unresolved. In surprise, debate came to a abrupt stop. When he offered no explanation, they dared ask no questions. As he retreated, their attention eventually returned to the matter at hand and the discussion picked back up.  They attributed his rude behavior to arrogance or disinterest.  

The truth was simple.  

He just wanted a chance to wrap his broken ribs.
